The series capture the visionary designs of Maya May’s five signatures pieces; the modification of the Asian influence kimono into a modern fabrication and easy to wear tunic.
The project translates from traditional costumes into transferrable and practical pieces.
The first series “Culture and Tradition” depicts Australian beach landscape features like swirling waves, dancing clouds, and brushstroke prints, all screen-printed onto jersey fabrics. Combining coastal pattern prints in warm earthy and cool breezy palettes with architectural silhouettes and vibrant artful prints, this series blends history and future in a unique way.
The style is all about timeless comfort, the pieces wearable as the tunic dresses for formal or casual, depending on the look and style you want at the time.
The second series “Mystery and Glamour” takes us to a new dimension of style translated from relax and alluring urban classiness to the exquisite evening look. The series captures attention to detail in luxurious silken satin, mystique black lace and embroidery trims.
Angela May collaborates with photographer Emanuel Karpouzis, make up artist Delrene Burton and hairstylist Felicia Ta, and charming actress Krystle Hill models the pieces.
